Carbide milling cutter selection skills

When choosing a carbide milling cutter, the workpiece material and processing part should be considered. When machining materials with long chips and strong toughness, use straight teeth or left-handed carbide milling cutters. To reduce cutting resistance, machining can be performed along the length of the teeth. When cutting aluminum and castings, choosing a carbide milling cutter with a small number of teeth and a large rotation angle can reduce the cutting heat. When performing groove machining, the appropriate tooth groove should be selected according to the discharge amount of chips, otherwise the chips will block and the carbide milling cutter will often be damaged.

Carbide Ball Endmill

When choosing a carbide milling cutter, you should pay attention to the following 3 aspects:

(1) First of all, select the carbide milling cutter according to the condition that no chip clogging occurs;

(2) Honing the cutting edge to prevent chipping;

(3) Is to select the appropriate tooth slot. Recommended application types of carbide milling cutters: closed slot, shallow slot, full slot milling, non-linear slot, general purpose. Carbide milling cutter application notes: Trochoidal slot milling for difficult-to-cut materials (hard steel, HRSA, etc.), plunge milling as a solution to long tool overhang problems, additional semi-finishing/finishing that can easily be added process.
